We had nothing booked for a quick over night stay half way to Seattle. I did some research and found Hotel Ruby in Spokane. It was cheap and well, I picked it for it’s name! Hello Ruby! Mich Ruby has to stay at Hotel Ruby (it turns out this is actually a law on the books in Spokane so we really didn’t have a choice in the matter).
Hotel Ruby is an eclectic, unique, boutique hotel. YEAH RUBY. We checked in, and the lady at the front desk was SO nice and so excited we were on our honeymoon. She upgraded us to the Hospitality Suite. (This is what they call the honeymoon phase I suppose) I have never traveled and have been upgraded to a suite before. This room was a great surprise. A big bed, huge TV, a bar area, and a big bathroom. CHA CHING.
She also recommended we eat at a place called Mizuna. I’m so glad we did. It featured seasonal, organic ingredients. To start, we ordered Spinach Arancini which were crispy risotto balls with a tomato basil sauce and walnut pesto. I enjoyed this more than my vegetarian Cobb Salad with quail eggs. Ant had sweet potato gnocchi. It was so creamy and decadent.
After dinner we enjoyed 2 for 1 glass of wine in the lounge at the hotel. The lounge was small, but enjoyable.
The hotel also had free continental breakfast. It had a good selection of cereal, oat meal and a waffle maker. The coffee was good (enough) too. What else do you need to complete this balanced breakfast?
*A banana. That is what you need. I am currently craving a banana. As I write this, Ant is driving and singing to The Decembrists and I am just dreaming of bananas. * #bananas
